Is my outreach working?

| 2-min read Stay updated

One of my goals for this year is to email 10 prospects each month.

So far, I’ve introduced myself to 30 prospects. Today I thought it might be cool to share my progress.

I usually do the outreach on Fridays. I add prospects to my list, and then, usually all on the same Friday, I send introduction emails to all 10. This takes maybe two hours per month, total.

My outreach stats

  • Email introductions sent: 30
  • Replies (e-conversations started + people added to my un-newsletter): 6
  • Phone calls completed: 1
  • Upcoming phone calls scheduled: 2

My outreach email script

Pretty much, this is the basic idea. I usually customize a bit based on where I found them and anything else I want to mention, like if there’s something on their website that sparked my interest.

Hi Mary,

I'm Deidre. I'm a web copywriter who partners with awesome web designers and personality-rich service providers.

Do you or your clients ever need web copy written? If so, I'd love to be in your loop.

My design partners usually introduce me as their copywriting partner (I send 10% back as a thank you), or they sometimes pay me directly and mark up my rates.

You can check out my samples here: http://connectwithcopy.com/work/

If you'd like to chat about the possibilities, let me know.

Thanks!

Deidre

P.S. Can I keep in touch by signing you up for my un-newsletter?

How I’m keeping my prospects organized

A client and colleague of mine (thanks Tara Hoover!) introduced me to Streak CRM for Gmail which I’ve used to set up some pipelines within my email. Although I’m still learning its full capabilities, right now I’m simply using it to “mark” my prospects in my inbox and keep notes about where I am in the communication process with them. I’ve also used snippets to create some email templates.

I will keep on going, and I’m optimistic that I will build some great new client relationships because of it. Plus, it feels good to be consistently marketing my business.
