4 Questions to Find Your Unique Human Voice

| 1-min read Stay updated

In the last issue, we talked about what – exactly – it means to “be more human” in an AI-saturated world…

And why you should lean into your unique human voice. (If you missed it, you can read it here.)

Clients often tell me they “don’t have a unique voice.”

But believe me, you do.

You’re just too close to hear it, because it’s part of you.

And in this ever more AI-dominant world, it’s your voice that will make you stand out.

So how can you bring it out more intentionally?

So that more of your “humanness” comes through in your content marketing, outreach messages, LinkedIn comments, in-person networking events…

Everywhere you connect with potential clients.

My first question for you is:

How would you describe your voice in one word?

I asked this in our recent Office Hours for the Simplest Marketing Plan, and people said:

Passionate
Honest
Weird
Smart
Curious
Measured
Soothing
Enthusiastic
Harsh
Uplifting
Calming
Insightful
Quirky
Personable
Empathetic
Anxious
Cheerleading
Steady

Don’t you just love how different they all are?

Once you land on a word that describes your voice, finish these three sentences:

1. I care deeply about __________________.

2. When expressing myself, I won’t ever __________________.

3. I speak with __________________.

“Knowing” your voice (and your self) comes with time – so be patient with yourself. Plus, remember that we’re constantly changing and deepening.

There’s no real formula here. Experiment and explore with what you find.

And starting with this exploration will help you identify what makes you you - and that’s what makes you human.

In fact, I truly believe that if we go through this process, AI has the potential to make us deeper, more thoughtful beings.

If you don’t see how, watch me explain what I mean in the “Best Bits” from this month’s Simplest Marketing Plan Office Hours:

That’s all for now - thanks for reading.
