Where Your Next Freelance Client is Hiding…

| 2-min read Stay updated

Most people don’t sit in physical therapy thinking, “This place could be my next client…”

But Simplest Marketing Plan (SMP) member Marigold did - and it paid off big time!

I was just recovering in a physical therapy facility and I picked them up as a full wrap-around client!

She told me. Then continued…

The director is new to the job and wants a complete revamp of his website, newsletters, blog, and more. I approached him in person and followed up with a pitch. He’s 100% on board with my approach and didn’t blink at my professional rates.

Just wow, Marigold!

Like Marigold, the creative professionals who get the most business tend to do two things:

  1. See opportunities everywhere.
Even the physical therapists’ office is an opportunity, if you can think of a way to help them.

  2. Network everywhere.
When you think of a way you can help, introduce yourself and ask questions. You never know where it might lead!

Need new clients right now?

Here are 3 steps to finding some quickly, straight from the Simplest Marketing Plan…

  1. Find Events - Identify events where “your people” gather in person. Don’t underestimate the impact of your personal presence. They are more likely to remember you when you meet in person, especially if you follow up.

  2. Engage with Curiosity - Approach conversations with genuine interest in learning about others. Ask thoughtful questions to uncover their needs and pain points.

  3. Cultivate Relationships - Focus on building authentic connections and offering your help. Afterward, follow up right away with a short note: “If there’s anything I can do to help, let’s talk.” Then stay in touch with your regular newsletter.
