How do you feel about the unknown?
I ran a poll in my recent Office Hours for the Simplest Marketing Plan, and here are the results:

Personally, I love not knowing where things will go - in business and in life! 😍
But clearly some (at least 32%) don’t. And I get it.
However, if you’ve been self employed for any length of time, you know it involves an awful lot of not knowing, right?
That means building your business involves lots of seed planting and lots of watering those seeds – without knowing when (or if) they'll sprout.
So I have a question about your business. (This is inspired by a really good book I just finished: How to Not Know by Simone Stolzoff. Watch him speak about it here.)
Here’s my question:
What do you wish you knew about your business?
Now, ask yourself:
Is the answer to your question even knowable?
If it’s not, can you tolerate not knowing the answer?
Either way, if you want to build a business, you need to keep those seeds growing. And that's where unshakeable trust comes in.
I introduced the concept of unshakeable trust in my Quick Tip on May 27th (read or listen to it here).
When I talk about trust, I’m talking about:
- Trust in yourself, that you can figure it out…
- Trust in the process, that marketing works when you do it…
- Trust in your community, that it’ll be here to support you…
- Trust in me, that I know what I’m talking about…
I’m talking about moving forward, even when you can’t possibly know what will happen or whether you’re moving in the right direction.
That’s a very special kind of trust.
This was the “big idea” I shared at our May Simplest Marketing Plan Office Hours. Watch the “Best Bits” here:
And then tell me: What do you wish you knew about your business? I’d actually love to know your answer.
By the way, have you noticed what I’m doing with my content and how I expand on ideas over multiple issues? It’s one of the ways I get the most mileage from my content marketing.
Stay tuned for more on that.
That’s all for today. Thanks for reading.
