Ā
I recently āsnuckā into a yoga teacher training and came away with an insight for youā¦
You may have noticed that I follow my favorite yoga instructor, Meg Shuba, everywhere (Iām a bit of a groupie) because I always learn so much from her.Ā
Now, I donāt teach yoga. But when Meg invited me to fill an extra cabana at her yoga teacher training in Costa Rica, it was an instant yes! (Being a groupie has its perks!)Ā
While eavesdropping on her classes, it hit me:
Marketing yourself is a lot like teaching yoga.
Hereās what I meanā¦
Meg teaches her trainees not just how to teach the poses, but also how to bring themselves to the front of the room in a very assertive, almost authoritative way.
Thatās what I feel like Iām teaching you, too.
For exampleā¦
Of course, I want you to learn the 3 tools of my Simplest Marketing Planā¦
- High-Quality Contentā¦
- Strategic Networkingā¦
- Targeted Outreachā¦
But I especially want you to own them in a way that positions you as an authority in your business (and your life).
Meg was showing these 20-somethings how to integrate the life experiences that have shaped them into their yoga practice.Ā
Which must be challenging for someone so young! I doubt I could have done it back thenā¦
But if you think about it, isnāt that what youāre trying to do in your own marketing? Even in your 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond?
The idea is to sprinkle yourself (and maybe even your wisdom) into your marketing.
You canāt be meek. You canāt be wishy-washy.Ā
You have to stand strong and say, āHere I am! This is what I think. This is what I have learned. This is what I know.ā
Are you doing that? If so, how does it feel? If not, why not? Share here.
With that said, now Iām going to contradict myself - very zen! š
Because while you do have to bring yourself through your marketing, you also have to listen to the market and let it guide you. Itās a balancing act for sure.
More on how to do that in my next post. Stay tuned!
