If you want to make a lasting impression on potential clients, should you…
a. Spruce up your LinkedIn profile…
b. Send a targeted, heartfelt note offering to help…
c. Meet them in person.
All of the above can help you get noticed, but when it comes to leaving a lasting impression…
In-person networking is by far your best bet.
At a time when trust is becoming scarce…
Meeting someone in person is the only way you can show up as a real, live human - without being mistaken for AI.
Plus, when you’re standing in front of them, they can’t ignore you!
Armed with the right questions, you can take a short cut to the conversation about their needs and their pain points.
And there’s no better way to “feel out” the kind of connection you have with someone, and what your working relationship might be like.
In the Simplest Marketing Plan, I recommend going to at least one in-person networking event a month.
Not sure where to meet potential clients who need what you do?
Here’s my favorite AI prompt for finding networking events…
Prompt: "Here’s my elevator pitch: [insert your best elevator pitch]. I’d like to work with [insert a market or industry you’re interested in] as potential clients. Please give me a list of events where I can meet them in real-time, in person, especially in [insert your location]."
And if you’re not quite sure how to break the ice while networking in person, AI can help with that, too.
Here’s a prompt you can use to prep for an event:
Prompt: "I’m going to an event for [insert event name] – give me 5 questions to ask people I meet there to learn more about how they market their businesses and what their pain points are."
