CFC: Getting the most & what to wear

Posted by Ilise Benun on

With CFC a month away, it’s time to look closely at what the heck we’re actually going to be doing on June 23rd And 24th in Chicago! If it’s been a while since you looked at the program, I detailed each activity and session for Day 1 and Day 2-Part 1 and Part 2 on the CFC blog.

A designer recently asked me two questions, and I thought it would be helpful to answer them here:

What suggestions do you have to get the most out of this conference?

Network, network, network. Go to all the sessions, smile, and introduce yourself to everyone you can. Meeting other creatives is one major reason why people are there! Bring plenty of business cards. When you receive someone else’s, write a note on their card that will help you remember them so you can follow up after the conference is over (i.e. what you talked about, what they were wearing). And, get a head start on your networking with the early morning net-walking! We meet at 6AM, and it’s a great way to meet people and get exercise ahead of the day.
How should attendees dress for this. I would hate to be underdressed, or overdressed.

Wear anything from blue jeans to business casual.  Dress in layers as the rooms can be cold – or hot.
One great idea for business casual is the Creative Monster t-shirt created by Tim Read. Get yours today.

Any other tips on getting the most out of the conference? Please share.
