The situation: Lauri was the very first "marketing mentee" and
we've been working together since 2001. Originally, she wasn't doing much marketing.
She had enough work, but it wasn't the kind of work she wanted and she always
felt at the mercy of any client who happened to call. She couldn’t say
no because she didn’t know what else would be coming along, if anything.

message that she sends to a growing list of 300+ clients, prospects and colleagues,
all of whom have "opted-in" — in other words, they want her
to keep in touch with them through email and have agreed to receive these messages.
Results: Lauri’s business has grown and she’s
getting more of the work she wants, passing on the work she doesn’t want.
But from a Marketing Mentor perspective, the most important result is that
Lauri has found the process of marketing to be a creative outlet. "I'm
stretching myself by making a personal statement, which I don't get a chance
to do in my client work," she says. " Plus, I'm a much better writer
than I realized."
