Hi, I'm Deidre. In my posts, I talk about my voyage down the road of self-employment as a website copywriter, my achievements and roadblocks along the way, and what I’m learning as I go (with Marketing Mentor as my guide).
I was making New Years plans, work plans and everything plans, and WHACK, Mother Nature came along with a giant snowstorm, stranding me in New York (warmly and cozily in my parents’ house, thank goodness).
Yes, Mother Nature was reminding me that she is in control (in case I had gotten a little cocky). I concede. You win, Mother Nature.
All I can do is wait until there’s room on a flight back to Ireland.
All I can do – is wait here – in my flannel pajamas. (No, Mother Nature didn’t tell me I could wear PJ’s, but why not? I have no plans.) Did you see Dyana Valentine’s amazing "Permission" video? I bet she would give me PJ permission.
This week, I’ve given myself permission to lay lower, read (and play Scrabble) on my new Christmas Kindle, try new recipes, eat cookies, and wear my new purse around the house with my sweats because I feel like it.
All this acceptance is a lot to handle for a control freak.
Luckily, being out of control, and letting myself do just a little work and a lot of vegging out, has given me insight into the thing I really am in control of, my business.
Control what I can. Let go of what I can’t.
In the next few days, I’m planning to do Ilise’s 2011 goals worksheet (it needs a name, please help!), set some tangible goals for myself, and some less tangible ones too.
I’ll keep you posted. And if you have any thoughts about Mother Nature, giving yourself permission, cookies, or sweatpants, let me know.
